Level One – Foundations of Aromatherapy (30 hours)

Holistic View of Aromatherapy in Practice

This is the only course in which students are encouraged to take a holistic view of aromatherapy, studying not only the oils themselves, but also make practice in our laboratory.  This is vital in truly understanding value of aromatherapeutics and aromatherapy products and deepens the students’ respect for the art of working with pure essential oils.

Description

This course is a Level 1 Basic Course and will give any student the tools develop useful skills for personal and family care as well as the knowledge to handle simple home emergencies as well . With the completion of this course, those who wish to continue with the Intermediate-Advanced course for Practitioner Status, will have their transition guided and eased. This Aromatherapy Course follows all required Level 1 guidelines (as originally developed by the Education Committee of Aromader).

Goals/Objectives

Upon successful completion of Level I Aromatherapy program, you will be able to:

  • Introduction to the history of Aromatherapy
  • Profiles of 20 Essential Oils
  • Production and Quality of Essential Oils
  • Basic Physiology – to include: methods of absorption, general overview of olfaction, the limbic system, the lymphatic system, the immune system, and the skin
  • How essential oils interact on physical and emotional levels
  • Basic essential oil chemistry with contraindications of certain essential oils
  • How to create/design an effective blend
  • Diluents such as vegetable oils and other carrier bases
  • Methods of application (inhalation, diffusion, topical, optional: internal)
  • Safety issues (including dermal, respiratory, internal)

This Level 1 Basic course will include

  1. The Aromatherapy Booklet
  2. 25 Essential Oil Profiles
  3. 1 study guide
  4. 1 100-question final

  • Clary Sage (Salvia sclarea)
  • Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus globulus)
  • Geranium (Pelargonium graveolens)
  • Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia)
  • Lemon (Citruslimon)
  • Peppermint (Menthapiperita)
  • Roman Chamomile (Anthemis nobilis)
  • Rose (Rosa damascena)
  • Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis)
  • Sweet Orange (Citrus sinensis)
  • Tea Tree (Melaleuca alternifolia)
  • Ylang Ylang (Cananga odorata)

In addition to the above 12 essential oils listed, 8 more may be chosen by the teacher/instructor.

Required elements for student graduation based upon approved standards in aromatherapy education:

1.1 Student must complete a minimum of 5 case studies.

1.2 Student must sit and pass examination offered by school.

Description of Homemade Aromatherapy

Ms Bilgin and Ms Nurel both bring 10 years of experience and personal research in the practice of Aromatherapy.

Primary purpose of Homemade Aromaterapi is to communicate the priceless effects of scents on our body, mind and soul and to offer and present them for all to benefit.

It demonstrates commitment to provide the highest quality aromatherapy education and seminars to those who seek their education and training.

Asli Bilgin is the founder of Home Made Aromatherapy, the first Aromatherapy company in Turkey to use aromatherapy (since 2010).  She is the Board member of the Turkish Aromatherapy Association (Aromader www.aromader.com)

All her additive-free and non-chemically processed products are produced in our own laboratories and ateliers, using cold pressed carrier oils, 100% pure essential oils, hydrolates (rose and lavander waters), plants picked correctly at the right time and 100% cotton fabrics.

Hulya Nurel is principal tutor of the Aromatherapy Studies Course – Practitioner. At the same time, the director of the Yeditepe University Cosmetics Research and Development department in Turkey. Ms Nurel is a biochemist and holds a master of Business Administration. While studying for Aromatherapy she formed the Endorphina Herbal Academy where she grew,  extracted and made her own products and formulas for personal care.

She instructor in the use of herbs and essential oils by both Institute of the Aromatherapy Course and seminars in the United States. She passed three sections of Jeanne Rose’s Herbal studies and Aromatherapy Course. She grows the plants, extracted them and has her own formulations. Nurel has US patented Formula for the oromucosal and topical wounds.
